Uncle Bobby’s Paddle Workshops 2025
MAHALO FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF THE ANNUAL PADDLE WORKSHOP! BOTH JAN & FEB WORKSHOPS HAVE BEEN FILLED. WE WILL STILL CONTINUE TO ACCEPT WAITLIST INTEREST IN CASE OF A DROP OUT OR IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE PRIORITY STATUS ON THE NEXT WORKSHOP.
Due to excessive interest, the Puakea Foundation will hold two sessions of the 3-week Paddle Workshop beginning in January & February 2025! Uncle Bobby’s once a year paddle workshop is back! Donʻt miss out. This is a UNIQUE hands-on experience learning about Hawaiian culture, tropical woods, and the ocean sport of outrigger canoeing. Learn how to make your own Hawaiian Koa Outrigger Paddle.
- No paddling or woodworking experience necessary. ALL ARE WELCOME!
- Learn as a class, but work at your own speed…
- Uncle Bobby, David, & others will be there to help walk you thru the process.
- Choose to build an outrigger paddle with straight or double bend shaft or steering w/ straight.
- Truly a memorable experience, crafting a one-of-a-kind work of art you will be proud of!
- Enjoy the hands-on experience of finishing your own Koa paddle to take home.
- This program is great for adults, accompanied teens under 16, and even entire families will have a great time doing this together!
- Prepare to get dusty… anyone afraid of dirt need not apply.
Class consists of 3 weekends, 6 Sat/Sun classes — one unforgettable experience.
Session One 2025 Dates: January 11-12, 18-19, & 25-26. (CLOSED – ALL SPOTS FILLED)
Session Two 2025 Dates: February 15-16, 22-23, & Mar 1-2. (CLOSED – ALL SPOTS FILLED)
Time: 9 am-3 pm (as needed)
Location: Puakea Foundation Learning Center at Heʻeia State Park in Kaneohe. Detailed directions & additional information will be sent to “accepted” paddle workshop students.
Donation: $400 per student
Please email us about your interest in the January or February workshops and give us your NAME, PHONE, and WHICH WORKSHOP you want to attend. We will contact you about how to make payment.
Acceptance is given on a first-come, first-served (paid) basis limited to 6-8 per session. The more flexible you can be on either session, the better your chance to fill an open spot. Wait-listers who have been waiting a year (or more) will have priority. Once spots are filled, jumping on the waitlist may still get you into a 2025 class if someone drops out (or makes us consider a March session).
If you have additional questions, please email the Foundation at waamau@dorothym3.sg-host.com. Be sure to join our email list in the bottom left area of the page so we can contact you about all of the Foundation events!
